NEVERTHELESS...WE ARE ENJOYING THE JOURNEY!
Well it's not July but Presidente decided he needed to make 1 last trip (at least I hope its our last one) to the ER! We had gone to Chetumal (our furthest area of the mission) to do a zone activity with them. We met at a park and decided to play kickball. I was on the sideline caring for a missionary who scraped up his leg (It wasn't bad at all just a few scrapes) when I looked up I saw Presidente walking towards me holding his arm and a couple elders helping him walk. I thought OH NO!! Presidente had dove for a ball and unfortunately landed on his shoulder. Umm yes not a smart move. He thought maybe he had dislocated it but I've seen a few of these in the past 2 1/2 years that I wasn't so sure. We called the mission doctor and he told us we needed to go to the ER. Well here in our mission, the best place to take him especially since he needed to be seen by an orthopedic specialist, was to immediately drive the 6 hours back to Cancun. The driving here in Mexico is so crazy scary and I have not driven past Tulum (2 hours away) but since Presidente couldn't drive I would have to do it. Happy to say that I did it and we made it to the Cancun ER where Presidente got an xray and was told he had injured his clavicle and it was a grade 3 out of 5. He has a huge lump on his shoulder and unfortunately will have that lump the rest of his life. He will be in a sling up to 4 weeks. So nevertheless...we are enjoying the journey!
As for the rest of the mission...all is great! We've had transfers, multi zone conferences, baptisms, mission leadership council, Hermanas conference, interviews, Presidentes birthday, p-days with the missionaries and so much more. We even had some family come visit and were incredibly blessed to have our grandson Rhett (Brooke's oldest) be baptized here in Cancun. What a wonderful experience this was for President and I to be a part of.
Time never seems to slow down but the Lord continues to bless us as we do our best to carry out His great work. He continues to give us the strength and inspiration needed to do our part in leading this mission, these wonderful missionaries and the people of Mexico. We are truly humbled and eternally grateful for this opportunity to serve in the Mexico Cancun Mission.
