The past few months!
The past few months
have been so overwhelming and has kept us very busy!
Friends and family have been so kind in expressing their love and support.
As we are doing our best to prepare to serve, I am trying to fill my thoughts with faith and have trust in the Lord and faith that it will all work out.
We've been surprised by the amount of work to be done to prepare...temporally, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
We've been purchasing everything we think we may possibly need for three years, along with packing up our home and moving our belongings to storage. It has been so hard having to sell our home and knowing that when we return we will not belong anywhere, and to especially know that we will not be living next door to Ashley and her family.
The details involved in leaving a life and household are significant. We couldn't do this without the support of our children and family. I know that in a few months from now, all the worries of home will go away, but right now it's all I can do to get ready!
We're reading and studying. We are having many, and I mean many zoom call trainings, meetings with our mentor and tutors once a week. Meetings and trainings with our Area Presidency and so much more.
We've been with our children and grandchildren every chance we get. We even took a family trip to Tennessee! We stayed with Derek and his family for about a week and then the rest of the family joined us in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the great smoky mountains. We spent the best week ever together, going to Dollywood, golfing, going to a pirate dinner and show and lots more.
We are literally soaking in all the time that we can with our family and attending all kinds of events, sports, museums etc. with our children and grandchildren.
We’ve been getting with
friends to say our goodbyes for 3 years and we have had doctor, dentist and eye
doctor appointments. And of course we’ve been getting lots and lots of shots.
Serving a mission is not an easy thing, but I know that if I have faith and trust in God, all things will work out!
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
