FIRST BAPTISM
The first baptism we attended was on the island of Holbox. It was a young 9 year old boy named Karim. We had to take a ferry to the island and ride golf carts or walk to get around. The roads were tiny, rocky and sandy. We walked to the families home and had lunch with them. Patti, the mom, had made ceviche (Lobster, Tilapia, Onions, Tomatoes in lime juice and some noodle) served with chips. After lunch we rode the golf carts to a certain bay and Karim was baptized in the ocean. The Elders, Elder Hazelhofer & Elder Badillo asked if Karen would be a witness. She was very surprised but honored. Little did we know that she would need to go out in the ocean to be the witness. It was a very spiritual experience and Karen was soaked up to her upper thighs. It took about 30 minutes and she was all dry. We went back to the house to have him confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. While waiting for everyone to join Paul was visiting with Patti's boyfriend and got the conversation going about the church and then the missionaries took over. He seemed very interested, so we are excited to see where this goes! What a great way to start the mission!
Oh how we miss our family dearly but love these missionaries and
are enjoying this amazing journey.
